Kalamkari is an ancient Indian art form that involves hand-painting or block-printing designs onto fabrics using natural dyes. The word Kalamkari is derived from the Persian words kalam meaning pen and kari meaning craftsmanship. The art form originated in the state of Andhra Pradesh in South India, where it has been practiced for over 3,000 years.
